North Thurston Public Schools update

Dr. Debra (Deb) J. Clemens was hired as the first female Superintendent of North Thurston Public Schools in 2016. Prior to that she was the superintendent in Cheney Public Schools. A former business and technology teacher, Deb has a doctorate of Philosophy in Leadership Studies and an MBA from Gonzaga University. Student Voice and a new Strategic Plan have been two major areas of focus for Dr. Clemens.
Deb currently is a member of the North Thurston Kiwanis Club and the United Way of Thurston County Board of Directors. She helps build strong partnerships including the Compassionate Community Initiative with Lacey South Sound Chamber and the City of Lacey. She has also engaged with various military branches and holds an honorary commander designation.
Both of Deb’s daughters attend North Thurston Public Schools. She and husband are proud homeowners in the North Thurston school district!
