Hawks Prairie Rotary hosted its 11th Annual salute to local Military families stationed in the area with it's Military Family Support Day at Cabela's store in Hawks Prairie next to I-5.  An estimated crowd of over 3500 including many children enjoyed the information and items given out by over 30 organizations who helped sponsor the event. Of course the drop of 20,000 Tootsie rolls from a helicopter was the highlight for the kids.  Following a short program honoring local military hero's and speeches by commanders from Joint Base Lewis Mcchord, 2,000 free hot dogs, chips and soda pop was given out to attendees by Hawks Prairie Rotary volunteers and City of Lacey staff and City Council representatives.  The event was again coordinated by Hawks Prairie Rotarians ANDREW OCZEKEWICZ and DAVE NEWKIRK.
